After three years of remarkable growth, Inflexion Group is announcing changes to broaden its shareholder base and change its board structure. This is aimed at further strengthening its leadership team and positioning the company to support the continued success of its growing list of clients amongst the world’s top technology and professional services firms.
Inflexion Group has expanded its shareholder base from the initial three co-founders — Bev Burgess, Tim Shercliff and Louise Jefferson — to 11 shareholders, comprising the five directors of the company and key members of the Inflexion team. This underlines the team’s long-term commitment to the company, enabling Inflexion Group clients to benefit from an outstanding group of practitioners who bring experience from some of the world’s largest companies.
Changes are also being made to the Inflexion Group Board, as outlined below.
Bev Burgess, renowned globally as the leading authority on Account-Based Marketing (ABM), becomes Chief Executive. With her pioneering work in codifying ABM as an approach since 2003, she has written several best-selling books on ABM, Executive Engagement and Account-based Growth. Bev has played a pivotal role in transforming the strategies of over 50 of the world’s largest companies over the last 30 years. As Inflexion Group’s recognised thought leader, she is responsible for inspiring and challenging its clients through her research, writing and continuing development of intellectual property. Bev was previously a marketing executive at Fujitsu and Epson, and led the global ABM practice at ITSMA.
Tim Shercliff, previously an IBM corporate executive and senior advisor to several technology firms on their growth strategies over 40 years, becomes Chair. Leveraging his extensive general management and board-level experience, Tim is responsible for the Inflexion Group strategy and business model. His recent co-authorship with Bev Burgess of ‘Account-based Growth: Unlocking sustainable value through extraordinary customer focus’ (Kogan Page, 2022) underscores his expertise in the field, and he will continue to work with selected clients in this area.
Louise Jefferson, a seasoned marketing professional with over three decades of experience in marketing business services, becomes Managing Principal for EMEA and North America. In this role, Louise will oversee Inflexion Group consulting and training engagements with clients in these regions. Having held key positions with industry giants such as Fujitsu and Cognizant, and specialised in ABM for the last fifteen years, Louise brings a wealth of expertise to her role. She advises marketing leaders who are establishing or transforming their ABM programme, bringing best practice thinking to help them achieve their goals.
Andy McFarlane, has held senior marketing roles in IBM in the UK and US, a global role in Vodafone and a senior B2B executive role at Telstra in Australia. Based in Sydney, he becomes Managing Principal for Asia Pacific, where he will oversee Inflexion Group consulting and training engagements with clients in this region. Andy is an accomplished, proactive and adaptive senior executive with a deep B2B commercial and international marketing skillset. He has been a director of Inflexion Group since 2022 and is now also a shareholder.
Colin Nunn becomes Finance and Operations Director, having been appointed as a director in 2023. Originally training as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte, Colin has subsequently devoted his extensive career to bringing his financial and operational expertise to over forty small and medium enterprises as their chief financial officer. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Inflexion Group, contracting with our many global and international clients and managing our financial processes. Colin has recently become a shareholder.
Reflecting on these leadership changes, Chair, Tim Shercliff said, “This revised structure enables the leadership team to play to their individual strengths. Together, we are looking forward to building on the extraordinary growth we have achieved in our first three years. Our team of highly-experienced practitioners, all of whom have held senior roles in technology and professional services companies, support and advise our clients as they help accelerate their companies’ growth.”
Bev Burgess, Chief Executive, added, “It has always been a personal goal of mine to have a business which is broadly co-owned by the people who work in it, and I am delighted that so many of our core team have invested in the company and are now shareholders. We have an incredible, collaborative, loyal group of people, who bring so much experience of what it takes to succeed in a highly-competitive world and love to innovate with our amazing clients. After three tremendous years, I firmly believe the best is yet to come.”
